“I don’t see gender,” for beginners, is functionally the same as the “colorblind” rhetoric people that are white to seem available minded, conceal their fetishization of individuals of color, or excuse their racism.
people (ideally) recognize that it’s impractical to “not see” competition. We constructed racial categories around real distinctions, which our society nevertheless makes use of against nonwhite individuals. Our society ingrained race into all of us, so when we still are now living in it, categorizing individuals according to competition can be an uncontrollable subconscious action.
Likewise, being “genderblind” isn’t feasible unless somebody has not been taught concepts like “male” and “female” whatsoever. All of us see people through the lens of sex and now have presumptions about them centered on it. We connect particular appears, areas of the body, fashion designs, personalities, along with other characteristics to genders. We assign genders to individuals within our minds centered on the look of them, frequently behaving differently with individuals dependent on their genders. It is impractical to declare we, being a civilization, are divorced from that yet.
There’s no “pure” type of attraction clear of sex biases. Also without having the usually accompanied implication that just pansexuals can look beyond the gender of the lovers, the notion that individuals just “see” gender for sexual or intimate reasons is outrageously oblivious. A misogynist can claim he “only views individuals, perhaps not genders,” but there’s a reason he tells some “people” that their destination is within the kitchen area.
